ATP Extra Episode 27 - Mick Rathbone

1 hour 13 minutes | Thursday, 11 June 2020

On this episode of Across The Park Extra, Millsy & Craig are joined by a man who played an essential role at the club between 2002-2010 and once referred to as David Moyes best ever signing, the head physio Mick Rathbone. ‘Baz’ tells us how he was greeted in style on his first day by Duncan Ferguson and explains the diagnosis that pro-longed the big mans career. We chat the timeline of the stories behind the scenes during that time, including the pressure treating Wayne Rooney in 2004 after he returned from Euro 2004, the work rate David Moyes expected, the madness of Thomas Gravesen and how unlucky he felt Andy Van Der Meyde was with 3 serious injuries during his Everton career. We of course, chat all things 2009 when the club reached the FA Cup Final and just how Baz dealt with the run of injuries prior to that when Yakubu, Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka & Victor Anichebe all suffered long term injuries, including how Jags and Mikel both broke down during their recovery. Baz tells us some of the funnier stories from his time at the club that has the lads in stitches, and how his return to the club as part of the academy medical team came about. A must listen for all blues!
